We took over Stitches in July 2020, just a few short months before the shops 40 year anniversary! Infact this year was a double celebration, with Stitches celebrating its 20 year anniversary in its current location on Eyre street- I think overall this was a good sign! The building itself is 119 years old! With all the chaos of Covid-19 circulating and the unfortunate HSE recommendation for businesses to close for 6 weeks, we decided to take this blow on the chin and turn it into something positive. We set about transforming Stitches and giving it a well deserved 40 year makeover. We came across a lot during out renovations, including an old brick window that was part of the original building, buried under MDF panels. We also found old wallpaper and tiles that had been plastered over! It gave us a sense of the history that stood in those four walls and we decided to keep some of the old elements on show. We are still in the process of finishing everything and its all hands on deck with painting, plastering and decorating all to finish! Makeover results coming soon !
